On August 28, 2024, Olin Corporation, a prominent global producer of chemical products and ammunition, announced the lifting of its systemwide force majeure on chlor-alkali products, which had been in place since July 10, 2024. This decision follows the restoration of chlor-alkali and derivative production to full operation after a temporary disruption caused by Hurricane Beryl, which impacted Olin's operations in Freeport, Texas.

The force majeure was initially declared due to the hurricane's significant impact on the Freeport facility, leading to operational challenges that necessitated the halt in production. However, Olin has successfully managed to overcome these disruptions and resume the production of chlor-alkali products, ensuring that its supply chain is back on track. The company’s swift response and recovery efforts highlight its resilience and commitment to maintaining the stability of its operations.

While chlor-alkali production has returned to normal, Olin's Epoxy business is still in the process of restarting its Aromatics assets, which remain under force majeure. The company is working diligently to bring these assets back online and is focused on ensuring that the restart process is conducted safely and efficiently.

Olin's approach to handling the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl underscores its dedication to the safety and reliability of its operations. The company has prioritized the well-being of its employees and the integrity of its facilities throughout the recovery process. By lifting the force majeure on chlor-alkali products, Olin aims to reassure its customers and stakeholders that it is fully committed to meeting their needs and maintaining its position as a reliable supplier in the chemical industry.

As Olin continues to restore its operations to full capacity, the company remains vigilant in monitoring its assets and implementing necessary safety measures to prevent any further disruptions. The lifting of the systemwide force majeure marks a significant step forward in Olin’s recovery efforts, reflecting its ability to navigate challenges and sustain its production capabilities in the face of unforeseen events.
