OCP Ecuador has successfully recommenced operations of its heavy crude oil pipeline after addressing challenges posed by the erosion of the Quijos River. The temporary suspension was triggered by adverse weather conditions and the resultant erosion, necessitating urgent intervention. In response, OCP Ecuador undertook significant efforts to construct two new 2.8-kilometer bypasses in the erosion-affected zone. This proactive measure not only mitigated the impact of the force majeure event but also ensured the safe and reliable transportation of crude oil resumed promptly.

The resumption of operations, achieved at 00:40 on July 3, 2024, highlights OCP Ecuador's dedication to maintaining robust infrastructure capable of withstanding environmental challenges. By swiftly implementing solutions to safeguard against erosion risks, OCP Ecuador reaffirms its commitment to operational excellence and the uninterrupted delivery of essential energy services. This accomplishment underscores OCP Ecuador's capability to adapt and respond effectively to unforeseen circumstances, ensuring continued reliability and resilience in the transportation of heavy crude oil across the region.

With a dedicated technical team exceeding 400 professionals and backed by the collaboration of over 20 companies, OCP Ecuador has successfully completed the construction of two critical bypasses at Kp 99 and Kp 102 within record time. Each bypass spans 1.4 kilometers and is strategically located in El Chaco canton, Napo province. These infrastructure developments are pivotal in safeguarding the environment, benefiting local communities, and contributing to national interests.

By swiftly implementing these measures, OCP Ecuador has demonstrated its commitment to environmental stewardship, ensuring minimal impact on sensitive ecosystems and enhancing safety for nearby communities. This proactive approach underscores OCP Ecuador's capability to mobilize resources efficiently, mitigate risks, and uphold operational integrity amidst challenging conditions. The completion of these bypasses not only reinforces infrastructure resilience but also strengthens OCP Ecuador's role in sustaining reliable and sustainable energy transportation solutions for the country.
