US: Nucor Corporation, the largest Steel producer in the United States, has announced a new development. The company's Towers & Structures business unit is investing $115 million to build a modern utility structures manufacturing facility in Crawfordsville. This investment is expected to create up to 200 new job openings by the end of 2027.

A new facility is set to be constructed adjacent to the long-standing Nucor Steel Indiana sheet Steel plant in Montgomery County, which has been in operation for more than 30 years. Nucor's Towers & Structures facility will be highly automated with efficient straight-line production and advanced hot-dip galvanizing operations. This state-of-the-art facility will be fully equipped to produce an extensive range of engineered utility structures that are crucial to support America's electrification initiatives such as grid hardening, renewable energy projects, and creating a nationwide network of EV charging stations.

Nucor's recent investment in Crawfordsville is a significant step towards advancing Indiana's energy storage and production efforts. The new Towers & Structures production facility not only promises to create new job opportunities for the community but also play an important role in powering the future of the US energy sector. This move will support the ongoing efforts towards electrification and clean energy. Production at the Crawfordsville facility is expected to begin by mid-2025, with construction of the production site scheduled to start between late 2023 and early 2024.

Nucor has had a presence in Indiana since 1972, and now has over 2,500 team members operating in 20 different locations throughout the state. The company is thrilled to expand its operations with the establishment of a new production facility for Towers & Structures. Nucor is grateful for the backing provided by various officials at the state and local levels.

Nucor's Towers & Structures business unit is all set to accelerate its growth with the opening of a new facility in Montgomery County. The company had established this business unit after acquiring Summit Utility Structures LLC in 2022, and it has been an essential part of Nucor's expansion plans ever since. The company had announced last December about its plans to establish two new utility structure manufacturing facilities across the nation by investing $270 million dollars. In February, the company revealed its intention to establish the first facility in Decatur, Alabama. Now, with the opening of the new facility in Montgomery County, Nucor is well on its way towards achieving its goal of national expansion.

Nucor revealed their decision to establish a new facility for manufacturing towers and structures in the county. The county team's hard work in creating an attractive investment environment that is beginning to yield positive results. This development follows Nucor's recent investment of $290 million to expand and modernize its Indiana sheet Steel mill, which began with a ground-breaking ceremony in April. The expansion will enhance the plant's galvanizing and pre-paint lines, thereby increasing Nucor's operational capacity across North America.

Nor Steel Indiana, established in 1989, marked Nucor's debut in sheet Steel production. With a workforce of over 31,000 members spread across North American locations, including 2,500 personnel in Indiana, Nucor is a significant player in the Steel industry. Pending the board of director's approval from the Indiana Economic Development Corporation, the organization will allocate up to $3.25 million in tax credits and conditional performance payments up to $3.75 million to Nucor Towers & Structures. The credits are performance-based, ensuring that the company can only receive incentives after fulfilling job creation and investment plans in Indiana.
