On April 3, a significant milestone was reached in Hubei’s Jingmen High-tech Zone and Duodao District as construction officially began on a major lithium-ion battery material production project. This development was part of a broader ceremony celebrating the launch of key projects for the second quarter of the year. The event took place at the site of the new lithium battery material facility being developed by Hubei Baijierui New Materials Co., Ltd.
With a planned total investment of 2.5 billion yuan, the project will be built on a 312-mu site and executed in three phases. The facility will have an annual production capacity of 36,000 tons of advanced lithium battery materials. This project is a crucial step in Baijierui's strategic efforts to align with China’s "dual carbon" goals, which emphasize carbon peaking and carbon neutrality. It also marks the company’s deeper integration into the rapidly growing new energy sector in Central China.
By focusing on high-end lithium salts, the project aims to fill a significant gap in the regional supply chain and enhance the competitiveness of Jingmen’s industrial base. It is expected to boost the development of two major 100-billion-yuan industrial clusters in Jingmen — one centered around the chemical industry and the other on new energy. Moreover, the project is set to foster synergy between green chemical manufacturing and new energy materials, accelerating sustainable industrial growth in the region.
Founded in 2008, Baijierui New Materials Co., Ltd. specializes in the research, development, production, and sales of rare alkali metal products, including lithium salts, cesium salts, and rubidium salts. As part of its long-term strategic vision, the company aims to establish a strong industrial presence with a centralized headquarters and three production bases by 2025. These facilities will help position Baijierui among the top global producers of lithium salts.
The management headquarters will coordinate operations across three major production centers: the Jingmen high-end lithium salt production base, the Yidu high-end lithium salt production base, and the Engineering Technology Base located in the Wuhan Chemical Industry Zone. Together, these sites will enhance the company’s capacity to innovate and meet rising global demand for advanced lithium materials.
This new project not only marks a significant investment in China's clean energy future but also positions Jingmen as a critical hub in the national and global lithium battery supply chain.
