Neuron Energy, a prominent player in the electric vehicle (EV) battery manufacturing sector, has officially launched a cutting-edge 5-acre facility in Chakan, Pune, at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025. This event, one of the leading global mobility expos in India, serves as an ideal platform for Neuron Energy to showcase its commitment to clean energy and its integral role in supporting India’s EV ecosystem. This new facility represents a major step in the company's mission to revolutionize EV battery production in India and is poised to significantly impact both the local economy and the chemical industry.
Strategically designed to produce high-performance lithium-ion batteries, the new plant will cater to a wide range of applications, including two-wheelers, three-wheelers (L3 and L5 categories), golf carts, drones, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and telecom solutions. With an annual output of 1.5 GWh, the facility will enhance Neuron Energy’s ability to meet the increasing demand for sustainable energy solutions in India’s rapidly growing EV sector. The plant's creation has been backed by a Rs. 25 crore investment, underscoring Neuron Energy's dedication to driving innovation and sustainable growth in the battery manufacturing space.
The significance of this facility extends beyond just its production capabilities. Neuron Energy has established a 6,500 sq. ft. Experience Centre within the facility to display its advanced technologies and a 5,000 sq. ft. Research and Development (R&D) Centre focused on continuous innovation in energy storage solutions. These efforts are vital as the company seeks to enhance battery performance, efficiency, and sustainability—critical elements in the evolving EV and energy storage industries.
Pratik Kamdar, CEO of Neuron Energy, highlighted the role of the new facility in meeting India’s electrification goals. He stated, "This 5-acre manufacturing facility plays a critical role in meeting the growing demand for reliable, sustainable energy solutions and marks an exciting milestone in our journey toward a greener, cleaner future." With this development, Neuron Energy positions itself as a significant player in India’s push toward sustainable mobility and energy independence.
The implications of Neuron Energy’s new manufacturing facility extend beyond the EV sector. As India accelerates its adoption of electric vehicles, the demand for high-performance lithium-ion batteries and associated materials—such as graphite, cobalt, and lithium—will rise significantly. This will have a direct impact on the chemical industry, particularly in the production and supply of battery-grade materials. Companies involved in the chemical sector will play an increasingly important role in supplying the raw materials required for EV batteries, creating new business opportunities and partnerships. Moreover, with the need for more sustainable production processes in mind, the chemical industry will be driven to innovate further to meet both environmental and market demands.
Neuron Energy’s investment in this new facility is a reflection of the growing importance of the chemical industry in the energy transition. As the company continues to scale its operations and research, India’s EV and clean energy future will be supported by a robust and innovative chemical supply chain capable of meeting the challenges and opportunities posed by the green revolution.
