Nan Ya Plastics, a prominent player within Taiwan's Formosa Group, has made a significant stride in its operational portfolio with the recent launch of a cutting-edge bisphenol A production line in Ningbo, located in the Zhejiang province of China.

The newly inaugurated production line in Ningbo boasts an impressive annual capacity of 170 thousand tons of bisphenol A. According to an insider within the company, the meticulously constructed bisphenol A production line has already commenced operations and is slated to enter full-scale production in the upcoming week. This strategic expansion aligns with Nan Ya Plastics' vision for sustained growth and responsiveness to market demands.

This recent undertaking follows a temporary cessation of operations in August, wherein Nan Ya Plastics, as part of the Formosa Group, closed down production on lines No. 2 and No. 3 dedicated to bisphenol A production in Mailiao, Taiwan. The shutdown was a planned measure aimed at facilitating essential maintenance on these critical production lines. Each of these lines, with an annual production capacity of 100,2023 tonnes of bisphenol A, remained non-operational until early October, coinciding with scheduled maintenance activities at the polycarbonate production facilities owned by Formosa Idemitsu Petrochemical Corporation.

Bisphenol A, a key component in the manufacturing industry, serves as a hardening agent in the production of plastics and plastic-derived products. Notably, it plays a pivotal role as one of the essential monomers in the synthesis of epoxy resins and polycarbonate (PC). Nan Ya Plastics, as a subsidiary of the Formosa Group, is strategically positioned to cater to the increasing demand for these vital materials.

In addition to its newly established bisphenol A production facility, Nan Ya Plastics operates four Monoethylene Glycol (MEG) plants at the same production site in Mailiao. This diversification of operations underscores the company's commitment to providing a comprehensive range of petrochemical products, further solidifying its position as a key player in the industry.

As Nan Ya Plastics takes strides in expanding its production capabilities, the launch of the bisphenol A production line in Ningbo serves as a testament to the company's dedication to innovation, quality, and meeting the evolving needs of the market. The enhanced annual capacity in Ningbo not only positions Nan Ya Plastics as a major contributor to the bisphenol A market but also reinforces its role as a vital player in the global petrochemical landscape. This development reflects the company's forward-thinking approach and commitment to maintaining a robust and responsive manufacturing infrastructure.
