During the Plast international plastics exhibition held in Milan, Montachem International, a plastic resin distributor, and Loliware, a materials science company, introduced their seaweed-based resins, marking a significant milestone for Loliware's entry into Europe's thriving $3.5 billion bio-resin market.

Loliware's innovative materials represent the first compostable, biobased resins that Montachem has incorporated into its European portfolio of plastic resins. This collaboration signifies a notable expansion of Montachem's product range, which previously encompassed polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene, PVC, and PET.

Loliware specializes in the production of compostable, ocean-safe seaweed resins that are designed to be seamlessly processed using existing plastic manufacturing machinery. Notably, Loliware stands as the world's pioneering company to scale up seaweed as a high-performance, cost-effective alternative to fossil fuel-based plastics.

Montachem has ambitious plans to finalize a comprehensive commercial agreement with Loliware by the conclusion of 2023. This agreement will establish a multi-year program for distributing extrusion and injection molding grade resins to Montachem's manufacturing clientele.

Jerry Murcia, President and CEO of Montachem, emphasized the company's dedication to environmentally friendly materials that align with their ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) mission. Loliware's innovative resins, which can be easily integrated into existing manufacturing equipment, are seen as an attractive choice for customers seeking to diversify their product offerings.

Loliware's entry into the European market comes at a crucial juncture when most currently available biomaterials fail to meet the stringent regulatory requirements for home compostability. Loliware has successfully addressed this challenge during its seven-year journey to develop a superior alternative to traditional plastics.

Sea Briganti, CEO of Loliware, highlighted the strategic partnership with Montachem as a means to offer global plastic converters a cost-effective alternative that not only complies with evolving legislation but also aligns with changing customer preferences and emerging waste management demands.

Governments and consumers worldwide are increasingly focused on reducing plastic waste, prompting a shift towards eco-friendly alternatives. Upstream companies are responding to rising demand by offering innovative plastic alternatives that cater to the evolving needs and preferences of customers and consumers alike.

In summary, the collaboration between Montachem International and Loliware, showcased at the Plast international plastics show in Milan, marks a significant advancement in the bio-resin market. Loliware's groundbreaking seaweed-based resins, backed by Montachem's distribution capabilities, provide a compelling solution to the pressing need for sustainable and environmentally friendly materials in the plastics industry. This partnership aligns with global efforts to reduce plastic waste and usher in a new era of eco-conscious product development and manufacturing.
