Metso Corporation has announced a significant two-year lifecycle contract with Ideal Development for Manufacturing Industries (IDMI) for its new phosphate beneficiation plant at the Eshidiya Mine in southern Jordan. This agreement marks a key milestone for Metso, solidifying its presence in the Middle Eastern phosphate market and demonstrating its commitment to supporting sustainable resource processing.
The contract, the value of which remains undisclosed, focuses on supporting IDMI in the commissioning, ramp-up, and optimization of the greenfield plant. Metso's comprehensive lifecycle services will encompass both maintenance and plant operations, ensuring smooth and efficient production. The performance-based nature of the contract includes mutually agreed targets, establishing a collaborative, win-win partnership between the two companies. IDMI also holds the option to extend the contract for an additional two years.
This new agreement builds upon Metso's successful track record in the region, following its first phosphate application contract in the Middle East secured in 2023. For this project, Metso supplied a substantial portion of the critical process equipment, including grinding mills, flotation cells, thickeners, filters, pumps, and its innovative energy and water-efficient Metso UltraFine Series screens. Notably, this installation represents the first application of Metso UltraFine Series screens in a phosphate beneficiation plant, highlighting the company’s cutting-edge technology and its dedication to advancing sustainable processing solutions. These screens are part of the Metso Plus offering for fine wet screening.
Rami Fakhouri, Managing Director of Ideal Development for Manufacturing Industries, emphasized the strategic importance of the collaboration. "By utilizing Metso’s key technologies and modern and safe commissioning methods at our site, we aim for a strong return on investment, leading to revenue and growth opportunities. Strong collaboration is essential for ensuring safe and productive operations," he stated. His comments underscore IDMI's confidence in Metso's capabilities and the anticipated benefits of the partnership.
Rajneesh Mishra, Vice President of Sales and Service, Middle East at Metso, expressed his appreciation for IDMI's continued trust. "We appreciate our customer’s trust in continuing our partnership, and we are glad for this important reference. With Jordan holding the fifth largest phosphate reserves in the world, we are committed to supporting success in this significant industry. Our goal is to ensure a smooth commissioning process and sustained efficient production to not only meet but exceed business targets," Mishra affirmed. His statement highlights Metso's commitment to supporting the growth of the Jordanian phosphate industry and its focus on delivering results.
