The prices of Magnesium Chloride dropped significantly in the U.S. market in February 2025. ChemAnalyst research show that prices dropped by around 5–7% per MT compared to the previous month.
The market for Magnesium Chloride was found to be lower than in January 2025, despite the severe winter weather. Manufacturers kept their supplies on hand, but moderate production activity from important sectors, such as de-icing and construction, resulted in higher inventories, which in turn caused the prices to drop. As it functions effectively at lower temperatures and has little effects on corroding steel structures and buildings, Magnesium Chloride is frequently used as a de-icing agent.
Yet, ChemAnalyst predicts a moderate increase in the Magnesium Chloride market this month (March 2025), with prices growing by as much as 3% per MT, due to the de-icing industry's continued demand and the beginning of the construction season.
Magnesium Chloride prices are expected to continue their upward trend in April. In addition to the ongoing need for de-icing in some areas, this rise is probably the result of increased demand from the industrial and construction sectors. It is projected that the market will continue to develop as production volumes increase and the supply chain is improved, helping to satisfy changing consumer demands.
However, ChemAnalyst has projected the prices of Magnesium Chloride to decrease by almost 2.5-3% per MT during May. This reduction in costs will be due to a temporary decrease in demand as the de-icing season ends and construction activities slow down. Despite this, Magnesium Chloride manufacturers expect price growth in the upcoming months, and the market sentiment to be favourable.
In June 2025, recovery in demand from the construction and manufacturing industries will lead the market for Magnesium Chloride to grow, with a significant increase in prices. Since industrial activities usually rises during this time, manufacturers may increase their production rates to fill their inventories, so that they can meet the growth in new orders.
This encouraging trend is probably going to continue in July. It is likely that investments in environmental projects and infrastructural activities would be the cause for the rise in Magnesium Chloride prices. Apart from this, potential regulatory changes can affect the market sentiment for Magnesium Chloride.
Overall, in the coming months, constant demand from the construction and industrial sectors and the market's resistance to seasonal variations will be the reasons for the projected growth in Magnesium Chloride prices in the U.S. market.
