LyondellBasell, a global leader in the chemical industry, has established a new distribution hub in Hungary for its polyolefins grades. This move is part of an ongoing commitment to enhance customer experience by placing inventories closer to customer facilities, thereby reducing lead times on orders, as exemplified by the opening of the UK hub in November 2023. The distribution hub in Hungary is a significant addition to the LyondellBasell global footprint, complementing existing distribution platforms and providing faster access to products.

The creation of this new hub in Hungary results from a collaborative effort with logistics expert Maersk, known for excellence in the field. Strategically located in Budapest, the hub ensures optimized distribution and swift delivery.

Erik Mezger, commercial manager Polymers, commented on the development, highlighting the commitment to exceptional service and the benefits of shorter lead times and enhanced service for customers. Additionally, this expansion enables better leverage of the global asset footprint network, ensuring timely product availability.

Patrick Hore, global vertical head of chemicals at Maersk, expressed pride in supporting LyondellBasell with a tailor-made warehousing solution that significantly reduces lead time for deliveries. He emphasized that providing decentralized warehousing solutions, as opposed to distributing from a single large distribution center across a continent, is a key part of Maersk's offering as an integrator of global logistics. With a growing network of around 470 warehouses worldwide and control over logistics assets such as vessels, terminals, aircraft, and truck fleets, Maersk is able to offer more reliable and resilient cargo flows even during disruptive times.

LyondellBasell stands as a prominent figure in the chemical industry worldwide, committed to developing solutions for sustainable living. By leveraging advanced technology and strategic investments, LyondellBasell supports the development of a circular and low-carbon economy. The company's efforts are focused on unlocking value for customers, investors, and society. As one of the world's largest producers of polymers and a pioneer in polyolefin technologies, LyondellBasell develops, manufactures, and markets high-quality, innovative products for applications including sustainable transportation, food safety, clean water, and quality healthcare. LyondellBasell is committed to creating a brighter, cleaner, and healthier future for generations to come through innovative material solutions and recycling technologies.
