LyondellBasell Enhances Polypropylene Compounding Capacity in China

On June 14, 2024, LyondellBasell (LYB) announced the commencement of operations for an additional production line at its Dalian facility under the Advanced Polymer Solutions (APS) business, marking an expanded footprint in China. This new line is dedicated to manufacturing a diverse array of high-performance, top-quality polypropylene compounds, primarily for the automotive sector. Serving as the second production line at the Dalian site, it boasts an annual capacity of 20,000 tonnes, effectively doubling the site's current production capability. This expansion strengthens the company’s capacity to satisfy increasing market needs.

Founded in 2015, the Dalian facility has the capacity to manufacture 80,000 tonnes of PP compounded products annually across four production lines. These products serve various applications in the automotive industry, such as bumpers, instrument panels, interior trims, under-the-hood components, structural parts, and body panels. Presently, the APS business operates five sites throughout China, offering a range of products including PP compounding, engineered plastics, and masterbatch solutions.
