LyondellBasell and Dacia have unveiled a pioneering partnership that redefines the exterior design of the All-New Dacia Duster. This new model, celebrated for its rugged style, now features the innovative "Starkle®" material made from LyondellBasell’s CirculenRecover portfolio. This material, crafted from recycled polypropylene (PP) compounds, imparts a unique visual appeal to the Duster while reinforcing both companies' commitment to sustainability.

Alexandre Martin, LYB’s Business Development Manager for Transportation, highlights that the CirculenRecover polymers reflect their dedication to fostering sustainable living solutions. "This innovative material not only enhances vehicle aesthetics but also supports our customers' sustainability objectives," Martin says. The CirculenRecover polymer used in the Duster contains 20% recycled PP, sourced from post-industrial waste like flexible packaging, which reduces CO2 emissions compared to using virgin materials. This underscores Dacia’s commitment to environmental responsibility.

The CirculenRecover material is integrated into the Dacia “Starkle®” design, which features in exterior components such as bumpers, trims, and side moldings. This polymer not only performs well but also boasts a mold-in-color special effect, showcasing the recycled content through distinctive particle effects. This approach streamlines the design process, eliminates additional manufacturing steps, and potentially enhances the recyclability of the components.

Damien Laplane, Cross Car Line & Brand Experience Leader at Dacia, notes that this collaboration with LyondellBasell represents a significant advancement in the automotive industry. "Our partnership has produced a cutting-edge solution that proves recycled materials can be both visually appealing and high-performing," says Laplane. The All-New Dacia Duster exemplifies how sustainability and modern design can harmoniously coexist, setting a new benchmark in automotive innovation.

Through this collaboration, LyondellBasell and Dacia are leading the way in automotive design, showing that sustainable practices can integrate seamlessly with advanced technology. The All-New Dacia Duster not only embodies distinctive design but also inspires the automotive sector to embrace more eco-friendly practices, setting a precedent for a sustainable future in vehicle manufacturing.
