Lhyfe, a renowned global leader in the realm of green and renewable hydrogen production, has received a substantial endorsement from the French government in the form of a grant totaling up to €149 million. This financial injection will play a pivotal role in facilitating the establishment of a green hydrogen production facility boasting an impressive electrolysis capacity of 100 MW. The proposed location for this facility is near Le Havre, a port city situated in northern France.

The official announcement of this grant coincided with the visit of Roland Lescure, the French Delegate Minister for Industry and Energy, to Le Havre for the 7th edition of the "Rencontres de l’Axe Seine" held on March 18, 2024. This government support underscores France's steadfast commitment to championing sustainable energy initiatives and backing innovative projects geared towards curbing carbon emissions.

Having been spearheaded by Lhyfe for over two years, this ambitious project has garnered endorsement from the European Commission as part of the third wave of IPCEI (Important Projects of Common European Interest) on hydrogen. Such recognition not only solidifies Lhyfe's stature as a prominent player in the renewable hydrogen sector but also reflects the trust placed in the expertise of its adept teams.

The envisaged production site, strategically situated near the Grand Canal du Havre, aims to churn out up to 34 tonnes of green hydrogen daily. This endeavor aligns seamlessly with the overarching decarbonization objectives of the region, particularly within the industrial sector. Furthermore, the proximity to the Yara plant in Le Havre, which is actively committed to decarbonization efforts and exploring the utilization of green hydrogen, sets the stage for potential collaborations and synergies between the two projects.

Matthieu Guesne, the Founder and CEO of Lhyfe, expressed profound gratitude for the government's unwavering support and underscored the pivotal role of the project in propelling France towards its decarbonization aspirations. He emphasized the plant's capacity to cater to the region's burgeoning demand for clean energy while leveraging mature and environmentally sound technologies.

The proposed site, spanning an expansive 2.8-hectare area in Gonfreville-l’Orcher, is slated to commence operations by 2028, contingent upon regulatory approvals and final investment decisions by Lhyfe and its collaborative partners. Handpicked under the IPCEI hydrogen program, this initiative represents a strategic investment in sustainable energy solutions, bearing far-reaching implications for the broader energy transition endeavors within the European Union.

Lhyfe stands as a European entity committed to fostering energy transition, specializing in the production and distribution of green and renewable hydrogen. Through its array of production facilities and project initiatives, Lhyfe aims to facilitate widespread access to substantial quantities of green and renewable hydrogen. The overarching objective is to foster the development of a sustainable energy paradigm, capable of effectively decarbonizing various sectors spanning industry and transportation.
