European green and renewable hydrogen producer and supplier, Lhyfe, and European renewable energy developer, Source Galileo, have officially joined forces in a strategic partnership aimed at advancing commercial-scale green and renewable hydrogen production units in the UK and Ireland. The collaboration, marked by the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU), underscores the shared commitment of both companies to contribute to the net-zero goals of these nations by deploying hydrogen production facilities powered by renewable energy.

The core objective of this partnership is to leverage the combined expertise of Lhyfe and Source Galileo to establish and operate commercial-scale green hydrogen production sites in the UK. Plans are already in motion for the implementation of multiple production units. Simultaneously, the companies are exploring potential opportunities in Ireland, undertaking a comprehensive assessment that includes identifying consumers, evaluating grid availability, ensuring power supply, considering land accessibility, and understanding planning requirements.

The memorandum of understanding solidifies the commitment of Lhyfe and Source Galileo to collaborate on the generation and supply of environmentally-friendly hydrogen to a diverse range of customers across various industries and transportation sectors. This joint effort aims to assist these customers in decarbonizing their operations, aligning with broader sustainability and emission reduction goals.

One of the key strategies of this partnership involves tapping into economies of scale to accelerate the widespread adoption of green hydrogen. As demand from companies seeking to reduce their reliance on natural gas and other fossil fuels continues to grow, Lhyfe and Source Galileo believe that their combined efforts can play a pivotal role in meeting this rising demand. The companies envision contributing significantly to the transition towards a more sustainable and eco-friendly energy landscape.

In the initial phases of the collaboration, Lhyfe and Source Galileo will focus on utilizing electricity sourced from onshore renewable sources. This approach aligns with the commitment to an environmentally conscious and sustainable energy production process. Looking ahead, the partnership envisions tapping into the vast offshore wind potential in the UK and Ireland as a longer-term strategy. This shift would not only contribute to overcoming potential constraints in electricity grids but also leverage the abundant renewable energy resources available in the offshore wind sector.

As the global push for sustainable energy solutions intensifies, collaborations like the one between Lhyfe and Source Galileo exemplify the proactive steps taken by industry leaders to drive change. The commitment to green hydrogen production on a commercial scale, coupled with the exploration of opportunities in both the UK and Ireland, positions this partnership as a significant player in the evolving landscape of renewable energy. By combining forces, Lhyfe and Source Galileo aim to make substantial contributions to the transition away from traditional fossil fuels and towards a greener, more sustainable future.
