LG Chem, a global leader in chemical production, has entered into a strategic collaboration with Acies Bio, a pioneer in microbial biotechnology, to develop sustainable solutions for commercial biomanufacturing. This partnership focuses on Acies Bio’s innovative OneCarbonBio™ platform, which leverages synthetic biology to upcycle one-carbon feedstocks derived from renewable or recycled sources, including CO2 emissions, plastic waste, and biogas, into valuable chemical intermediates and specialty materials.
The collaboration combines Acies Bio’s expertise in microbial strain engineering, synthetic biology, and biomanufacturing with LG Chem’s robust capabilities in process development, large-scale manufacturing, and global market access. The goal is to create a sustainable and efficient alternative for producing high-demand chemicals, supporting the shift toward bio-based industrial cleantech solutions.
