JSW Steel USA, Inc., a subsidiary of JSW Steel Ltd., one of the India’s leading steel company, plans to invest US $110 million in modernizing its steel plate mill in Baytown, Texas. This investment, which will incorporate sustainable technology and state-of-the-art equipment, aims to produce high-quality monopile steel plates. These plates are crucial to the U.S. Administration’s initiative to expand offshore wind energy, targeting the deployment of 30 gigawatts (GW) of offshore wind by 2030, sufficient to power 10 million homes with clean energy.

The steel products resulting from this investment will meet Buy America requirements and are intended for specialized applications such as hydrocarbon pipelines, offshore wind towers, offshore wind platforms, high-density pressure vessels, and monopile steel plates for offshore wind towers. These investments were announced at the 10th SelectUSA Investment Summit hosted by the U.S. Department of Commerce in National Harbor, Maryland. JSW Steel USA employs over 800 people in the United States.

Mr. Parth Jindal, Director of JSW Steel USA, emphasized that the new $110 million investment in the Baytown, Texas facility underscores the company's dedication to a sustainable and green future. The upgrades to the Plate Mill align with JSW USA's long-term ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) initiatives and contribute to the decarbonization of the U.S. energy sector. These improvements will empower JSW Steel USA to provide top-tier steel offerings, solidifying its position in specialized markets with an exclusive 'Made in America' range of premium steel products. Additionally, the investments aim to significantly reduce U.S. dependency on imports for the infrastructure and renewable energy sectors, bolstering domestic production capabilities and supporting the nation's sustainability goals.

Mr. Rob Simon, CEO of JSW Steel USA, highlighted the company's ongoing commitment to enhancing its Baytown facility and its strong partnership with the state of Texas as a testament to JSW's ethos of "Better Every Day." This latest investment underscores JSW's dedication to supporting a cleaner, greener future by providing essential high-grade steel products for U.S. offshore wind deployment. Simon expressed pride in this strategic investment, which not only signifies a major upgrade for the Baytown operations but also reflects the enduring and vital relationship between the U.S. and India in the steel and renewable energy industries. Through this initiative, JSW Steel USA aims to contribute significantly to the advancement of sustainable energy solutions, reinforcing its role in the global effort to combat climate change while strengthening economic ties and industrial collaboration between the two nations. This investment positions JSW as a key player in the transition towards renewable energy infrastructure.
