US: Ineos Styrolution America LLC, a manufacturer of Styrene plastics headquartered in Aurora, Illinois, has recently earned the International Sustainability & Carbon (ISCC) Plus Certification for their manufacturing facilities located in Decatur, Alabama and Bayport, Texas. A global petrochemicals manufacturer with operations spanning across 29 countries and 194 sites, INEOS generates an annual revenue of $65 billion and provides employment to over 26,000 individuals. INEOS is not only excelling in their core business but is also making a considerable impact in multiple elite sports and gaining recognition among consumers with the launch of their Grenadier SUV and INEOS Hygienics product line. As a company committed to positive change, INEOS is setting an example for others to follow.

Ineos Styrolution has announced that its manufacturing sites in Decatur, Alabama and Bayport, Texas have received the International Sustainability & Carbon (ISCC) Plus Certification. This latest certification brings the total number of certifications for their manufacturing sites in the Americas region to five, with the Channahon, Illinois; Texas City, Texas; and Altamira, Mexico locations receiving the same certification in December 2021. The new certifications signify an essential milestone in Ineos Styrolution's commitment to the circular economy for plastics. Ineos Styrolution is dedicated to utilizing cutting-edge recycling technology and bio-attributed feedstocks to produce recycled Polystyrene (PS) and other styrenic products.

ISCC Plus uses a mass balance approach to certify recycled or bio-attributed products by tracking the sustainability characteristics of circular and/or bio-attributed content within materials. Adding this approach assures both companies and brand owners, as well as consumers, that materials certified by ISCC Plus meet stringent sustainability standards.

Cassie Bradley, Ineos Styrolution's sustainability commercial manager for the Americas, has stated that expanding the sites within their ISCC Plus certification will create more opportunities for the company to provide sustainable solutions to its customers. This move demonstrates the company's ongoing commitment to expanding styrenics sustainable solutions and paves the way for revolutionary advanced recycling technologies, enabling a truly circular economy for Polystyrene products. ISCC, a multi-stakeholder organization, offers a globally recognized certification system for the sustainability of products and raw materials. This certification system is designed to meet high demands regarding the implementation of environmentally, socially, and economically sustainable production. The certification validates that Ineos Styrolution has met ISCC Plus's objectives and enables the company to further develop Styrenics products derived from recycled plastics produced by the company.

According to Ricardo Cuetos, the Vice President of Sales Management for the Americas at Ineos Styrolution, the company's primary focus is to bring sustainable and viable solutions to the market. Ineos Styrolution's goal is to ensure that plastic waste that would have previously ended up in landfills can be recycled back into its raw material, enabling infinite usage, and making closed-loop products a reality.
