HRV Global Life Sciences has successfully delivered the first-ever shipment of Indian-manufactured Metformin (1000mg) to Mendoza, Argentina. This groundbreaking initiative marks a significant step in strengthening the health diplomacy between India and Argentina, bringing affordable and high-quality diabetes management solutions to Mendoza’s public healthcare system.
A $150,000 investment from the Mendoza provincial government facilitated the procurement, resulting in an estimated 45-50% cost saving compared to traditional drug imports. This substantial reduction underscores India's growing prominence in the global pharmaceutical supply chain, particularly in providing cost-effective solutions.
"This milestone delivery is not merely a matter of pharmaceutical logistics; it embodies access, equity, and vision," stated Hari Kiran Chereddi, Managing Director of HRV Global Life Sciences. "We are honored to collaborate with Argentina in making quality medication affordable and widely accessible."
The consignment comprised USFDA-compliant Metformin produced by HRV's Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) partner. This successful delivery also validates HRV's pioneering virtual pharma model, a first of its kind in India, encompassing both Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs) and Finished Dosage Forms (FDFs).
HRV Global Life Sciences, established in 2015 and headquartered in Hyderabad, operates across a global network, including the USA, Switzerland, Dubai, Lithuania, and Turkey. The company collaborates with over 55 Indian drug substance manufacturers, serving more than 100 corporations across Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East.
This strategic partnership highlights India's leadership in providing cost-efficient, high-quality pharmaceuticals and opens doors for future exports to other Argentine provinces and across various therapeutic areas, including oncology and cardiology.
Rodolfo Montero, Mendoza’s Minister of Health, emphasized the significance of Metformin, stating, "Metformin is more than a medicine; it’s a lifeline for millions. Our partnership with HRV Global Life Sciences demonstrates how visionary policy coupled with international cooperation can revolutionize public healthcare."
The achievement was made possible through the combined efforts of key figures, including Alfredo Cornejo, Governor of Mendoza, and Dinesh Bhatia, Ambassador of India to Argentina. The project gained crucial momentum following strategic deregulation policies implemented by Argentine President Javier Milei, Minister of Health Mario Lugones, and Minister of Deregulation Federico Sturzenegger, paving the way for streamlined pharmaceutical imports.
This initiative reflects a broader trend of global healthcare diplomacy, where India's virtual pharmaceutical models are extending their reach to patients across continents, prioritizing sustainability and scalability. The success in Mendoza serves as a testament to the potential of cross-continental collaborations in addressing critical healthcare needs and improving public health outcomes.
