Gulshan Polyols Limited has launched commercial operations at its new grain-based ethanol plant in Goalpara, Assam, with a capacity of 250 thousand litres per day (KLPD). This milestone signifies the plant's readiness to produce ethanol, contributing to the region's ethanol production capabilities and supporting sustainability efforts in the fuel sector.

Gulshan Polyols announced the commencement of commercial operations for ethanol at their new 250 thousand liters per day (KLPD) grain-based ethanol plant located in Goalpara, Assam. This achievement marks a significant milestone for the company, highlighting their expansion into ethanol production in the northeastern region of India.

Ethanol, a biofuel derived from renewable sources such as grains, is widely used as a clean-burning alternative to fossil fuels in various industries, including automotive and pharmaceuticals. Gulshan Polyols' decision to establish this facility underscores their commitment to sustainable practices and meeting the increasing demand for ethanol in India.

The plant's strategic location in Assam not only supports regional economic development but also enhances the company's production capabilities and market presence in the ethanol sector. By leveraging their expertise in chemical manufacturing and focusing on renewable energy sources, Gulshan Polyols aims to contribute positively to environmental sustainability while capitalizing on the growing market opportunities for biofuels in India.

Established in 1981 as Gulshan Sugars & Chemicals Limited, Gulshan Polyols Limited (GPL) initially focused on manufacturing Precipitated Calcium Carbonate (PCC) and Activated Calcium Carbonate (ACC) in Muzaffarnagar, UP, with an initial capacity of 2100 MTPA. Over time, GPL significantly expanded its Calcium Carbonate production capabilities to 105,000 MTPA.

Today, GPL operates as a diversified, multi-location manufacturing entity with a global footprint spanning 42 countries across three continents. The company's extensive product portfolio includes Sorbitol, Fructose, Sweetener Ethanol (Bio-fuel), Distillery products, Calcium Carbonate, Starch & Derivatives, and Onsite PCC Plants. With over four decades of industrial expertise, GPL runs multiple facilities across India.

GPL specializes in the production of chemicals derived from grains and minerals, serving various sectors such as oral care, alcoholic beverages, coatings, paper, pharmaceuticals, plastics, and personal care. The company operates through three core manufacturing segments: Mineral Processing, Grain Processing, and Ethanol (Bio-Fuel)/Distillery, positioning itself as a leader in sustainable chemical solutions and global market expansion.

GPL has expanded its presence in India's northeastern region with the acquisition of 25 acres of land in Industrial Growth Centre, Matia, Mornai, District Goalpara, Assam. This land will host a new 250 KLPD grain-based ethanol distillery unit. Additionally, GPL has been selected through a competitive process initiated by a major oil marketing company (OMC) to enter into a long-term off-take agreement. This agreement aims to supply indigenous denatured anhydrous ethanol to ethanol deficit states in India, meeting the growing demand for ethanol in the country's fuel sector.
