Balmoral Tanks, a globally recognized leader in the design, manufacturing, and installation of water, wastewater, and processing storage solutions, has announced its expansion into the United States with the launch of its U.S. business and the establishment of a state-of-the-art operations facility in Mentor, Northeast Ohio. The 16,600-square-foot facility is slated to open in the summer of 2025 and will focus on producing the company's proprietary efusion range of epoxy-coated steel tanks.
This strategic move marks a significant investment by Balmoral Tanks, with approximately $2 million being injected into the Ohio facility, contributing to a total of $30 million invested in their tanks business since 2018. The new plant will become the company's third operational hub, joining their existing technologically advanced facilities in England and Wales.
Balmoral Tanks is particularly renowned as a leading producer of digester tanks for anaerobic digestion (AD) plants worldwide. Anaerobic digestion is a crucial process for breaking down organic matter, such as animal and food waste, in sealed, oxygen-free tanks to produce biogas, a renewable energy source. The company boasts a comprehensive range of tank products from a single source, catering to diverse needs within the water and wastewater sectors.
Allan Joyce, president of Balmoral Tanks LLC, expressed his enthusiasm for this expansion, stating, "Over the past 45 years, Balmoral Tanks has established a proven global track record of quality, efficiency, and providing outstanding levels of customer service, which we look forward to continuing as we design, manufacture, and install AD tanks for our U.S. customers." He further added, "With the launch of our U.S. business and the opening of our operations facility in Ohio, we will employ approximately 20 team members as we grow our business in a market we see as having huge potential."
The decision to establish a manufacturing presence in the U.S. is driven by several key factors, including the burgeoning U.S. biogas sector and the desire to enhance customer relationships. Paul Tattershall, general manager of Balmoral Tanks’ U.S. business, highlighted the benefits for American customers, stating, “Producing our epoxy-coated steel tanks in America enables us to cultivate and enhance American customer relationships, reduce logistics costs, and meet increasing demand as the U.S. biogas sector continues to grow. For our U.S. customers, that means lower shipping costs, faster delivery, and decreased risk of transportation delays.”
The efusion brand, which will be exclusively produced at the Mentor facility, represents Balmoral Tanks’ in-house expertise in steel panel epoxy coating. These tanks are known for their high quality, durability, and cost-effectiveness, attributes that have earned the trust of customers globally for over four decades.
