In February 2025, prices for the C10 solvent experienced a varied price trend in the global market. This was primarily shaped by the supply-demand dynamics and the local market behavior.
The European market witnessed a weak price trend for the C10 solvent during the period. Prices were mainly influenced by the abundant inventory levels and the weak production costs. In the German market Naphtha prices remained weak on the week-on-week basis, despite a slight rise in the early week of the month. The upstream market was largely influenced by the weak crude oil prices.
Macroscopic factors such as tariffs on Canada, Mexico and the high tariff on the Chinese imports into the US market, further eased some sanction on Russia, influenced the economic growth. These factors further contributed to the low energy demand, influencing the crude oil prices in the global market.
On the demand front, domestic marketers expected the increased demand from the downstream paints and coating industries, however, sluggish automotive industry performance contributed to the subdued market activity. Data from the KBA, the German federal motor transport authority reported on March 5, 2025, that the registration for the passenger car dropped down significantly by 6.4% year on year basis in February 2025. This decline ultimately influenced the demand.
Eventually the downstream market and the feedstock prices shaped the prices for the C10 solvent during the period. As a result, prices for the C10 solvent in German market dropped by 2.0% during the month.
In the Asian Pacific market, C10 solvent prices witnessed the varied price trend during the month. The overall market displayed weak demand dynamics during the period, contributing to the price trend for the C10 solvent. Though, Singaporean market price remained stable this month supported by the stable supply demand dynamics. However, the import prices for the C10 solvent declined coupled with the declining logistics freight charges within the region.
Meanwhile, in the South Korean market, prices for the C10 solvent exhibited a rising trend during the period. This increasing price was mainly shaped by the rising overseas export levels and improvement in the domestic consumption, fueled by the recovering automotive industry.
Additionally, the regional consumption levels also improved, associated with the recovery of the automotive industry during the period. Eventually, despite the declining production costs and the weak global crude oil market, local manufacturers and traders kept the C10 solvent prices in an upward trajectory. As a result, prices for the C10 solvent rose by 1.0% during the month.
Contrary, In Indian market, prices for the C10 solvent experienced a weak price trend during the month. In the spite of an uptick in domestic consumption, high inventory levels and low production costs weighed on prices. These factors led to a 1.0% price decline for C10 solvent in the Indian market during the month.
