The state of the global economy has been unpredictable. While inflation indices are on the rise, supply chains have been intertwined due to the pandemic, winter storms, port delays, shipping difficulties, and more.
All that, coupled with intense and long-term demand for several products, impacted the market sentiments. The consumer demand was up, and pharmaceutical companies bought more of the raw inputs and materials (i.e., API, KSM, and binding material) they needed from suppliers to meet demand. An influx of orders drove the supplier prices up.
On 31st January, Betamethasone API prices ended on an increasing note across the globe due to increasing demand from end-user pharmaceutical producers. Betamethasone Dipropionate and Betamethasone Valerate are produced by using Betamethasone API, which is out of stock, as a result of which demand for this API escalated in the global market.
Even the short supply of the Betamethasone API among the prominent manufacturers with no timeframe for delivery resulted in high prices. In most cases, an expected delivery date of between two and three weeks for new stock is indicated, but for Betamethasone API, the manufacturer is still “awaiting delivery details.” However, industrial input prices grew at a faster rate in January, increasing at one of the sharpest rates seen over the past few months as ever-higher shipping costs exacerbated supply shortages.
As per the data, the FOB price for Betamethasone API in the primary exporting country like China surged by 2.2% during January, whereas the CFR price in major importing countries for this API, such as Germany and China also increased steadily by 1.6%, and 0.9% increment.
According to Chemanalyst, the Betamethasone API prices will continue to rise in the upcoming months. Therefore, the supply problem may take time to recover as companies are working with manufacturers to replenish stock as quickly as possible by boosting their output capacity and implementing additional work shifts as demand for Betamethasone API is at an all-time high.
