Demonstrating their mutual dedication to carbon neutrality, Dow Chemical International Private Limited (Dow India) and Glass Wall Systems India have signed an agreement. Dow will supply DOWSIL™ Facade Sealants from its Decarbia™ portfolio of reduced-carbon solutions for Glass Wall Systems' curtain wall system.

This pioneering global initiative showcases the building and infrastructure industry's steadfast commitment to reducing embodied carbon in construction materials. Dow's carbon neutral silicone sealants for building façades, verified by the PAS 2060 Standard, uniquely benefit from a lower embodied carbon footprint, thanks to Dow's investments in decarbonizing its silicon metal assets in Brazil.

"Silicone sealants employed in building façades are recognized for their ability to decrease operational carbon emissions linked to heating and cooling structures, thanks to their resilient adhesion in insulated prefabricated façade components," explained Jean-Paul Hautekeer, Global Marketing Director for Building & Infrastructure at Dow Consumer Solutions. "With this initiative, we're pushing boundaries by eradicating their embedded carbon. We deeply appreciate the aligned vision and partnership with Glass Wall Systems."

Glass Wall Systems can attain carbon neutrality by utilizing DOWSIL™ 983 Structural Glazing Sealant and DOWSIL™ 791 Weatherproofing Sealant. This carbon neutrality, certified under PAS 2060, is achieved through the responsible sourcing of low-carbon feedstocks, Dow's efforts to reduce carbon emissions during manufacturing, the use of renewable energy, and offsetting the remaining emissions.

Aligned with the Decarbia™ portfolio, Dow's DOWSIL™ carbon neutral silicone service for building façades supports green-building design initiatives, enhances façade sustainability, and can boost green-building ratings within the construction industry.

Beyond carbon neutral silicones, Dow is continuously developing innovative and sustainable solutions for the building and infrastructure industry.
