Evertis, a global leader in PET multilayer film production for the food industry, has announced a significant $100 million investment to establish a state-of-the-art production facility in Columbia, South Carolina.
The new plant, slated to commence operations in the second quarter of 2026, will initially add 30,000 tons of production capacity to the North American packaging sector. This initial phase is expected to generate over 100 full-time jobs, providing a substantial boost to the local economy. Evertis anticipates the first commercial sales from the facility later in 2026.
This expansion is designed to enhance the company's ability to serve its US customer base more efficiently, reducing lead times and mitigating supply chain risks. Furthermore, the localized production will enable Evertis to better align with the growing market demand for packaging solutions that prioritize circularity and environmental responsibility.
In a planned second phase, scheduled for the second quarter of 2028, Evertis will double the plant’s capacity by adding another 30,000 tons, bringing the total production capacity to 60,000 tons.
"This is truly another important milestone on our journey to deliver our packaging to the doorsteps of our customers," said Thomaz Gruber, Executive VP Operations of Evertis USA. "The asset addition to our global Group production footprint will enable us to offer shorter lead times, reduce supply chain risks, and better align with the increasing market demand for packaging solutions that prioritize circularity and environmental responsibility."
Evertis, a subsidiary of the IMG Group, has been serving the US market since 2000, previously supplying its products from its manufacturing plants in Mexico and Brazil. The decision to establish a dedicated US production facility reflects the company's recognition of the US as a pivotal market and a global hub for influential brand owners.
The IMG Group, a privately held company with over 65 years of experience in the polymers industry, is known for its expertise in leveraging advanced technologies to deliver innovative solutions. This investment in South Carolina follows recent expansion and diversification strategies within the group. Notably, in 2024, the group expanded its copolyester producing business, Selenis, at its Fayetteville, North Carolina plant, and launched the Evercare and Selcare brands to cater to the healthcare packaging sector.
"As we expand in the US, our focus is on delivering packaging solutions that help our customers minimize their environmental footprint," stated Dan Kearny, Chief Business Officer of IMG Group. "With localized production, we can better support their goals for reducing life cycle impacts, while our innovative portfolio opens new opportunities for greater circularity in the packaging industry."
