EuroChem has unveiled its latest venture, a state-of-the-art phosphate fertilizer production facility situated in Serra do Salitre, State of Minas Gerais, Brazil.
The inauguration of this complex marks a significant milestone for EuroChem, representing a substantial investment of nearly US$1 billion. Constructed within an impressively short timeframe, the new phosphate mine and plant complex boasts an annual production capacity of 1 million tonnes of advanced phosphate fertilizers. This substantial output is poised to greatly enhance the reliability of domestic phosphate fertilizer supplies to Brazilian farmers.
At the forefront of technological innovation, the facility offers an integrated phosphate fertilizer production setup characterized by low water consumption. It operates on a fully closed water circuit and incorporates a clean energy generation system that not only reuses its own steam but also generates up to 40% of the entire facility’s energy requirements.
EuroChem has cultivated a prosperous presence in South America, a pivotal growth market for the company, where there exists a robust demand for its products. The establishment of this new facility marks a significant stride towards better serving customers, particularly Brazilian farmers, by granting them access to top-tier fertilizers through EuroChem's well-established distribution network in this crucial global breadbasket.
Operating on a mine-to-farm principle, EuroChem ensures reliability and quality across the entirety of the fertilizer supply chain, from the extraction of raw materials to production and distribution to end consumers. As a leading international fertilizer producer, EuroChem caters to all three major nutrient groups: nitrogen, phosphate, and potash. With a global workforce exceeding 32,000 individuals and a sales network spanning over 100 countries, the company contributes to food security for more than 250 million people worldwide.
EuroChem remains committed to advancing its production facilities, evident in its recent launches of new production sites such as the EuroChem-Northwest ammonia plant and the Usolskiy and VolgaKaliy potash plants in Russia. Additionally, ongoing construction projects include the EuroChem North-West-2 ammonia and urea plant in Russia, as well as a potassium nitrate plant in southern Russia and a chemical complex in Karatau, Kazakhstan.
In South America, in addition to the Salitre complex, EuroChem manages blending facilities and sustains a vast distribution network, with a workforce exceeding 3,000 individuals solely in Brazil. The company's presence in the country dates back to 2016, following the acquisition of Fertilizantes Tocantins and Fertilizantes Heringer.
EuroChem Group AG, based in Zug, Switzerland, stands as a prominent Swiss fertilizer producer with expertise in manufacturing fertilizers across all three essential nutrients: nitrogen, phosphates, and potash. Specializing in agricultural chemicals, EuroChem manufactures and distributes these vital products worldwide.
