Ero Copper Corp. has announced a temporary power disruption at its Tucumã Operation due to a severe localized windstorm that struck the southwest region of the Carajás Mineral Province in Pará State, Brazil, on October 5, 2024. Fortunately, the safety of the Company’s workforce has not been compromised, and there has been no reported damage to the infrastructure at the Tucumã site.

The windstorm caused significant damage to the regional power grid, including the primary 230kV transmission line that services the area. This disruption resulted in power outages affecting over 200,000 residents as well as several major industrial users. However, power has since been fully restored to residential areas, while industrial consumers are experiencing partial restoration. The operator of the damaged transmission line has communicated that full power restoration for industrial users, including the Tucumã Operation, is anticipated within two weeks.

As a consequence of the power disruption, certain processes at the Tucumã processing plant have been impacted. Specifically, the milling, flotation, and filtration circuits have been affected. Despite this, mining and crushing operations have continued without interruption, and ore is still being placed in the run-of-mine and crushed ore stockpiles. The Company acknowledges that the primary consequence of the power outage will likely be a delay in the ramp-up schedule of the processing plant, which could, in turn, affect the overall production results for the year at the Tucumã Operation.

Ero Copper is actively monitoring the situation and evaluating the full extent of the impact based on the timeline for power restoration. The Company is confident in its ability to manage this temporary disruption effectively. Ero Copper plans to provide further updates as developments occur, ensuring stakeholders are informed about any changes to the situation and its implications for operations. The Company remains committed to maintaining operational stability and minimizing any disruptions to its production capabilities.

Overall, while the windstorm has posed challenges, Ero Copper is well-equipped to navigate this temporary setback and looks forward to resuming normal operations as power is restored.

Ero is a low carbon-intensity copper producer characterized by high margins and significant growth, with operations based in Brazil and its corporate headquarters situated in Vancouver, B.C. The Company holds a 99.6% stake in Mineração Caraíba S.A. ("MCSA"), which is the sole owner of the Caraíba Operations (previously known as the MCSA Mining Complex). These operations are located in the Curaçá Valley of Bahia State, Brazil, and encompass the Pilar and Vermelhos underground mines, as well as the Surubim open pit mine. Additionally, Ero operates the Tucumã Operation (formerly known as Boa Esperança), an open pit copper mine located in Pará, Brazil. The Company also possesses a 97.6% interest in NX Gold S.A. ("NX Gold"), which owns the Xavantina Operations (previously referred to as the NX Gold Mine), comprising an operational gold and silver mine situated in Mato Grosso, Brazil.
