Engineered Polymer Solutions (EPS) has unveiled EPS® 2460, a new all-acrylic polymer specifically designed for industrial wood coatings. Announced on July 25, 2024, in Marengo, IL, this innovative product enhances EPS's industrial wood portfolio by providing an excellent option for flat to semi-gloss coatings.

Notably, EPS® 2460 is formulated without fluorosurfactants, aligning with industry trends toward more environmentally friendly solutions. This launch reflects EPS’s commitment to advancing high-performance coating technologies while addressing environmental concerns, offering a superior choice for various wood coating applications.

EPS® 2460 is engineered for high-performance exterior pigmented wood coatings, making it ideal for a diverse range of applications including decks, shutters, windows, and doors. Its formulation is tailored to withstand demanding environmental conditions while providing a durable finish. Additionally, EPS® 2460 is well-suited for interior uses, such as kitchen and bathroom cabinets, where its robust performance ensures long-lasting protection and aesthetic appeal. This versatile polymer combines advanced technology with practical functionality, catering to both exterior and interior wood coating needs.

Robert Sandoval, Ph.D., EPS R&D Director, highlighted that EPS 2460’s advanced technology empowers customers to develop high-performance products while eliminating the need for intentionally added fluorosurfactants. This breakthrough is particularly significant for wood coatings used in exterior applications. The new polymer significantly enhances the coatings’ durability, ensuring they withstand harsh environmental conditions. It also improves adhesion, providing a stronger bond, and increases hardness for better resistance to wear and tear. Additionally, EPS 2460 boosts the coatings’ resistance to blocking and various chemicals, thereby extending their lifespan and effectiveness

Makarand Gawade, EPS Global Marketing Director, emphasized EPS's dedication to relentless innovation in the coatings industry. He stated, “At EPS, we are committed to constant innovation.” Gawade explained that this commitment drives the company to continually develop next-generation products designed to empower customers in creating advanced and effective coatings. By focusing on innovation, EPS aims to lead the market in delivering cutting-edge solutions that not only meet evolving performance standards but also enable customers to push the boundaries of what’s possible in coating technology. This dedication ensures that EPS remains at the forefront of industry advancements and supports its customers in achieving their formulation goals.
