To meet the increasing demand for high-performance engineering plastics in Europe and the Americas, Envalior (Düsseldorf, Germany) has announced its investment in a new polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) compounding facility in Europe. This strategic move aims to enhance supply capabilities and provide improved services to customers in both regions.

The new facility, set to begin operations in the second half of 2025, will focus on the production of Xytron™, Envalior’s advanced PPS material. Xytron™ is widely recognized for its exceptional chemical and hydrolysis resistance at high temperatures, stable heat aging performance up to 240°C, excellent electrical properties even at elevated temperatures, low moisture absorption with high dimensional stability, and inherent flame retardance that meets UL94 V0 standards. These properties make it an ideal choice for demanding applications across various industries, including automotive, electronics, and industrial manufacturing.

Since its market introduction in 2016, Xytron™ has built a strong reputation among original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and tier customers. With increasing adoption across industries, Envalior’s decision to expand PPS production in Uerdingen, Germany, will ensure a more reliable and diversified supply chain for customers, particularly in Europe and the Americas. The new facility will not only provide local supply but also enhance service offerings, enabling faster response times, improved sample availability, shorter lead times, and greater flexibility for new product development and technical support.

“Xytron™ is now widely recognized as one of the most high-performance, innovative, and sustainable PPS brands in the market. We are seeing a significant rise in demand, especially from customers in Europe and the Americas,” said Angela Zheng, Global Business Manager for Xytron™ at Envalior. “Our strategy is focused on improving convenience and service by offering increased agility for product development, better security of supply, and enhanced technical support.”

By investing in this new compounding facility, Envalior strengthens its position as a leading provider of PPS materials while reinforcing its commitment to sustainability and innovation. The expansion aligns with the company’s broader strategy of developing advanced material solutions that support energy efficiency, lightweighting, and reduced environmental impact across industries.

As demand for high-performance polymers continues to grow, Envalior’s investment in European PPS production marks a significant step in ensuring a stable and efficient supply chain. With operations set to commence in late 2025, the new Uerdingen facility is expected to play a crucial role in meeting the evolving needs of customers while driving further advancements in engineering plastics technology.

Envalior is a leading global provider of Engineering Materials, employing over 4,000 people worldwide. Formed in 2023 through the merger of Lanxess Performance Materials and DSM Engineering Materials, the company has a strong history of customer-driven innovation. Envalior specializes in developing sustainable, high-performance material solutions, catering to key industries such as Automotive, New Mobility, Electronics & Electrical, and Consumer Goods.
