Eastman Auto and Power Ltd (EAPL), a leading player in India's energy storage sector, through its subsidiary Eastman New Energy Private Limited, has announced a strategic partnership with MTOW Mobility Private Limited (Urja Mobility), a key player in battery leasing for electric three-wheelers. The two companies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on the development and large-scale deployment of advanced lithium-ion battery technology for India’s growing electric vehicle (EV) market.
As part of this partnership, Urja Mobility has committed to procuring over 20,000 lithium-ion batteries from Eastman to power its battery leasing solutions across the country. Additionally, Eastman will integrate Urja Mobility’s IoT and software solutions into its lithium battery products, enabling advanced remote monitoring and data analytics. This technology-driven approach aims to enhance the efficiency and reliability of electric mobility solutions, making battery leasing more accessible and cost-effective for commercial EV users.
This collaboration is expected to accelerate the adoption of electric mobility in India, significantly contributing to the nation’s sustainability and carbon reduction goals. By combining Eastman’s expertise in lithium-ion battery manufacturing with Urja Mobility’s innovative battery leasing model for electric three-wheelers, the partnership seeks to transform India’s EV sector. The joint effort will help expand eco-friendly and efficient transportation options, particularly in urban areas where electric three-wheelers play a crucial role in last-mile connectivity.
Eastman, already a market leader in E-Rickshaw batteries, sees this partnership as a significant step in strengthening its presence in the electric three-wheeler battery segment. By leveraging its technological expertise and extensive distribution network, Eastman aims to further support the transition towards cleaner mobility solutions.
Speaking on this collaboration, Shekhar Singal, Managing Director of Eastman Auto and Power Ltd, emphasized the importance of this strategic alliance. “This partnership represents a crucial milestone for Eastman as we join forces with Urja Mobility to drive the expansion of electric mobility in India.
