The continuous drop in feedstock Vitamin C prices is backing the price decline of Sodium Ascorbate in China, a significant producer. The trend of the slow market activity of Sodium Ascorbate in August continues to be there in September, which is simulating further the downward momentum in the international pharmaceutical excipients markets. Moreover, the Sodium Ascorbate markets are weighing somewhat lower demand from the downstream pharmaceutical and food industries, subsiding the cost of the product.
Since August, the manufacturers of Sodium Ascorbate have been keeping a close eye on the price trend of raw material Vitamin C (Ascorbic acid) when prices decreased by more than 15%. Some Vitamin C manufacturing plants, including Zhejiang NHU Co., Ltd. and Zhejiang Medicine Co., Ltd., are under maintenance still manufacturers are willing to lower their prices affected by raw materials and production costs. Therefore, the Vitamin C market is still soft and has reached its lowest, affecting the Sodium Ascorbate price trend. The prices of Sodium Ascorbate in China decreased by 25% in August and are expected to decline further by around 5% in September. In China, there is enough stock of Sodium Ascorbate with the local suppliers, and the current price is lower than the production cost.
Considering the easing supply-chain disruptions, lessening demand, and falling freight rates, international buyers are getting lower import quotations from China which seems quite beneficial for them. Global users start stockpiling inventories in advance, leading to ample product availability to cater to the downstream demand. As a result, many end-users from the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, and food sectors are pleasantly getting an opportunity from lower rates as they may move ahead of signing their fourth-quarter contracts.
According to ChemAnalyst, Sodium Ascorbate prices will continue to follow a downward trend in the upcoming months as demand from end-users will not improve. So, the price will not rise for a short period, and buyers can purchase as demand. Also, sufficient stock in the market on the back of decreased production costs impacted the prices of Sodium Ascorbate.
