Dow (NYSE: DOW) has disclosed at Chinaplas 2024 the initiation of two fresh partnerships aimed at crafting solutions that fulfill both performance and circular requirements.
In partnership with Dow, Sealed Air has introduced an e-commerce packaging solution featuring higher levels of recycled materials. Through this collaboration, both companies aim to create additional e-commerce packaging options utilizing Dow’s REVOLOOP™ post-consumer recycled (PCR) resins. This initiative not only enhances product protection but also contributes to reducing carbon emissions by decreasing reliance on virgin plastics.
Dow and Changchun FAWSN Automotive Technology Research and Development Co., Ltd. have unveiled a new partnership aimed at investigating the potential uses of polyolefin elastomer (POE) artificial leather and POE-based 3D Loop solutions within the automotive sector. Notably, POE artificial leather boasts a weight reduction of 25% to 40% compared to PVC leather, delivering performance advantages while avoiding the use of harmful substances.
The announcements were made at Dow's customer event, which coincided with Chinaplas 2024, the foremost plastics industry tradeshow in the region. The event took place in Shanghai from April 23rd to 26th. At this gathering, Dow highlighted its Asia Pacific range of pioneering materials science solutions, fostering circularity and low carbon practices.
Focused on Dow's sustainability pledges to Safeguard the Climate, Convert Waste, and Complete the Cycle, the presentation highlighted solutions engineered for both superior performance and circularity.
Bambang Candra, the commercial vice president for Asia Pacific at Dow Packaging and Specialty Plastics, emphasized the growing significance of Asia as a vibrant growth center, with many local and regional brands expanding globally. He highlighted Dow's dedication to innovation, enabling the company to adapt to the changing demands of customers who are increasingly seeking sustainable and circular solutions. Recognizing that no single entity can revolutionize the industry alone, Dow actively fosters collaboration with partners across the value chain. This collaborative approach aims to integrate recyclability into product design from the outset, thereby transforming plastic waste into a valuable resource for reuse.
