Peru [South America]: Nexa Resources announced that production at Cerro Lindo mine in Peru has been suspended due to the heavy rainfall and overflowing rivers caused by Cyclone Yaku. The cyclone is also bringing severe weather to other parts of the country. The disruption of operations at the mine is expected to continue until conditions improve.

Nexa has released a press statement reporting that their underground mine is facing a difficult situation. More water has been received than can be pumped to the surface, which has led to partial flooding of the lower levels of the mine. Additionally, road access has been restricted. The company is taking swift action and responding to this unexpected event.

The company has announced that they anticipate resuming production within the next ten to twelve days, pending successful water removal from the underground mine as well as other areas of the operation affected by rainfall.

Nexa is a major integrated Zinc production company with over 6 decades of experience operating and developing mining and smelting assets across Latin America. The firm currently owns and operates five long-life underground mines, located in Peru's Central Andes region and two in Minas Gerais, Brazil. Nexa is also ramping up the Aripuana mine - its sixth underground mine in Mato Grosso, Brazil.

Nexa was a global leader in mined Zinc production in 2022, ranking in the top five producers. Additionally, Nexa was one of the world's top five metallic Zinc producers the same year.
