Competitive Power Ventures (CPV) is set to commence construction on a 114 MW wind project in Pennsylvania, marking the company's third initiative to repurpose former coal mine land for renewable energy generation. The new project, CPV Rogue’s Wind, will join CPV Maple Hill Solar and the CPV Fairview Energy Center, both located in Cambria County. Equipped with 19 Vestas V-162 wind turbines, CPV Rogue’s Wind is anticipated to begin operations in 2026.

This project forms part of CPV's broader strategy, which includes a 10 GW pipeline of renewable and dispatchable generation projects. This portfolio also features utility-scale power generation integrated with carbon capture technology.

CPV’s CEO, Gary Lambert, emphasized Pennsylvania's favorable business environment, noting the successful launch of CPV Fairview in 2019 and CPV Maple Hill, the state's largest solar project at the time, in 2023. "With the construction of CPV Rogue’s Wind, we will soon demonstrate all three types of generation in our portfolio, showcasing our vision for a reliable, low-carbon energy supply to drive a responsible energy transition," Lambert said.

Sean Finnerty, President of CPV Renewables, highlighted the company’s dedication to making a positive impact in energy communities. "CPV Rogue’s Wind is our third project revitalizing former coal mine land, underscoring how brownfield development can bring essential resources to areas in need," Finnerty remarked. He added that CPV aims to actively contribute to the region's development while providing a clean energy source to Pennsylvania's electricity customers.

CPV Rogue’s Wind is the first project linked to CPV’s recent partnership with Harrison Street, a leading investment management firm specializing in alternative real assets, managing approximately $55 billion in assets. Through this partnership, Harrison Street acquired one-third of CPV Renewables, facilitating the accelerated development of CPV's 4 GW renewable energy pipeline.

Carolyn Arida, Senior Managing Director at Harrison Street, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration. "The construction of CPV Rogue’s Wind is a significant milestone in our long-term partnership with CPV Renewables," Arida said. "This project reflects our commitment to sustainable infrastructure, and we look forward to building on this success, continuing to deliver innovative renewable energy projects across the country."

CPV Rogue’s Wind represents a critical step in CPV's ongoing efforts to transition from traditional energy sources to renewable ones, contributing to a more sustainable future.

CPV Group LP, a partnership primarily owned by OPC Energy Ltd., has achieved 25 years of remarkable success in developing and operating highly efficient, low-emission electric generation and renewable projects across the United States. CPV is committed to leveraging its expertise in development, finance, and project management to drive the advancement of next-generation technologies.
