Covestro has unveiled CERTEVO®, a groundbreaking polymeric substrate designed to enhance security printing for high-stakes applications such as official documents, certificates, and other items requiring advanced anti-counterfeiting measures. This innovative material represents a significant leap forward in document security, combining performance with environmental sustainability. CERTEVO® integrates cutting-edge printing technology with eco-friendly features, offering a solution that meets both security needs and sustainability goals.

Daniel Hentschel, Covestro’s Global Segment Manager for ID & Security Printing, stated, “The introduction of CERTEVO® marks a pivotal advancement in security printing as an innovative, recyclable polymeric substrate that combines excellent printability, durability, and sustainability.” CERTEVO® is designed to address the challenges of security printing by offering several unique benefits that enhance both performance and environmental responsibility.

One of the standout features of CERTEVO® is its superior printability, supporting both intaglio and offset printing processes. It enables intricate embossing structures, which significantly improve security compared to traditional paper. This high level of printability, coupled with its hotmelt composition, eliminates the need for coatings and primers, making it easier to print while also ensuring better ink adhesion and enhanced durability.

Another key advantage of CERTEVO® is its laser engravability. This feature allows for precise micro-engravings, making it much harder to counterfeit printed materials. By combining these advanced printing capabilities, CERTEVO® offers a robust solution to combat counterfeiting while maintaining high-quality standards in document production.

In addition to its performance characteristics, CERTEVO® is fully recyclable thanks to its single-polymer composition, addressing the growing demand for sustainable materials in the security printing industry. Its impressive tear resistance and excellent ink adhesion help extend the lifecycle of printed items, reducing the need for replacements and conserving valuable resources. As such, CERTEVO® aligns with global sustainability goals while ensuring that printed materials are both secure and eco-friendly.

The durability and recyclability of CERTEVO® also make it a cost-effective choice, especially for governments and the public sector, which increasingly prioritize both security and environmental responsibility in their document production processes. By reducing long-term costs through fewer replacements and promoting sustainability, CERTEVO® provides a forward-thinking solution for modern security printing needs.
