CORMETECH Inc. ("CORMETECH") and Ozona CCS LLC ("Ozona") have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to jointly design, build, and operate a comprehensive carbon capture and sequestration (CCUS) system with integrated NOx reduction. This system will focus on capturing, transporting, and sequestering CO2 from the flue gas of natural gas-powered engines. Set to be operational by the end of 2025, this groundbreaking CCUS project will be among the first full-scale systems in the United States to profitably capture and sequester CO2 from flue gas.

Ozona’s Expertise and Strategy:

Ozona is a prominent player in the developing CCUS sector. The Ozona team has a proven track record in permitting, designing, building, and operating CO2 injection facilities. This project aligns with their long-term strategy of providing integrated solutions for CO2 capture, transport, and sequestration. Ozona's team boasts extensive expertise in land and mineral rights, petroleum and chemical engineering, geology, geophysics, regulatory compliance, financing, and the construction and operation of pipeline and injection facilities, all of which are essential for the successful implementation of CCUS.

CORMETECH’s Role and Technology:

For over 30 years, CORMETECH has been a global leader in innovative solutions for reducing NOx, CO, and VOC emissions. The company brings its advanced emissions control technology and state-of-the-art, modular PATHWAY™ CO2 Capture technology to this partnership.

Ozona's choice of CORMETECH’s next-generation modular adsorber technology instead of traditional liquid amine systems is a strategic decision. Here’s why:

CORMETECH’s next-generation modular adsorber technology offers several compelling advantages. First and foremost, it provides substantial cost savings in CO2 capture compared to conventional liquid amine systems. Additionally, the technology features a compact physical footprint, making efficient use of available space. From an environmental standpoint, CORMETECH’s PATHWAY™ technology stands out by eliminating secondary air emissions and reducing the generation of liquid/solid waste and water consumption, setting a new standard for sustainability. Moreover, the system integrates advanced NOx control capabilities, enhancing its overall environmental performance. Lastly, the technology excels in operational flexibility, ensuring smooth operations during unit start-up and shutdown phases, thereby enhancing overall efficiency and reliability.

The partnership between CORMETECH and Ozona marks a notable stride towards achieving economically viable and sustainable CO2 capture and sequestration. As the initiative advances, it will play a pivotal role in combating climate change and promoting cleaner energy solutions.

CORMETECH is a world leader in developing, manufacturing, and managing technologies designed to purify the air by removing harmful pollutants and carbon dioxide (CO2) associated with climate change.
