A recent clinical study published in Nutrients has revealed that Lubrizol's MAGSHAPE magnesium microcapsules offer significantly enhanced magnesium absorption compared to other commonly available magnesium supplements. The research, conducted by Bionos Biotech SL and Lubrizol Nutraceuticals, suggests that MAGSHAPE microcapsules could provide a more effective way for individuals to maintain healthy magnesium levels, potentially benefiting overall well-being, muscle recovery, and sleep quality.

The double-blind, randomized, cross-over study involved 40 healthy volunteers who were administered different magnesium supplements, including MAGSHAPE microcapsules, magnesium oxide, magnesium citrate, and magnesium bisglycinate. Researchers meticulously tracked blood plasma magnesium levels at various intervals following supplementation, from baseline to six hours post-ingestion. A secondary objective of the study was to assess the incidence of common magnesium-related side effects.

Furthermore, the microencapsulation technology employed in MAGSHAPE facilitated a sustained release of magnesium, maintaining elevated levels for up to six hours after intake. This sustained release profile is a key advantage, potentially providing prolonged benefits compared to other forms of magnesium.

Beyond superior absorption, the study also indicated that MAGSHAPE microcapsules were associated with fewer adverse effects. Participants reported less intestinal motility and gastric heaviness compared to those taking other magnesium supplements.
