Clearpoint Recycling, a leading independent recycling and waste management company based in the United Kingdom, has entered into an exclusive supply and off-take agreement with Enviroo, a specialist recycler focused on polyethylene terephthalate (PET). The agreement marks a major step toward advancing the U.K.’s circular economy and strengthening the supply chain for recycled plastic materials.
Under the terms of the deal, Clearpoint Recycling will provide more than 30,000 metric tons of recyclable PET annually to Enviroo’s new state-of-the-art recycling facility at Protos Park in Ellesmere Port. The facility is currently under development and expected to become operational in 2027. Once operational, it will convert post-consumer waste plastics into certified food-grade recycled PET (rPET), helping address the rising demand for sustainable packaging solutions.
The new facility will be among only three in the U.K. capable of producing food-grade rPET, and it will play a critical role in reducing landfill dependency and environmental impact. The collaboration allows Enviroo to consistently produce high-quality, compliant recycled polymers while offering Clearpoint Recycling a reliable off-take partner to deliver material into a truly circular economy model.
“The plant is a much-needed outlet for PET to be converted into certified food-grade rPET, which the U.K. market is crying out for,” said Mark Garrett, managing director at Clearpoint Recycling. “It aligns perfectly with the U.K. government’s plans to implement a deposit return scheme (DRS) for PET bottles in 2027. With this facility, we will be well-positioned to process and manage those materials effectively.”
Garrett also emphasized that the agreement enhances Clearpoint’s ability to strengthen its supplier network while supporting long-term sustainability goals. “We’re excited to continue working with our trusted partners, and we invite new suppliers to become part of this project. Our involvement will help drive innovation and accountability across the recycling value chain.”
Enviroo’s new plant is designed to fully recycle PET—the dominant material used in food and beverage packaging—ensuring that plastic waste is diverted from landfills and oceans. The company specializes in constructing and operating high-impact recycling plants that support circular economy objectives through advanced technology and efficient processes.
“This agreement with Clearpoint Recycling is a critical step forward for our facility and our broader mission,” said Ahmed Detta, CEO of Enviroo. “By securing a consistent and high-quality PET feedstock, we are ensuring that our operation at Ellesmere Port will help transform waste into valuable, food-grade recycled material.”
Detta added that the partnership also brings economic and community benefits. “This facility will not only support sustainability and environmental targets but also create new jobs and stimulate local investment. Our goal is to build transparent, intelligent recycling systems that unite consumers, industry, and policymakers in pursuit of a more sustainable future.”
With this deal, both companies reaffirm their commitment to building an efficient and responsible recycling ecosystem—one that delivers both environmental impact and long-term value.
