Clean Fino-Chem Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Clean Science and Technology Limited, has officially commenced the commercial production of Butylated Hydroxy Toluene (BHT), a widely used antioxidant, at its manufacturing facility in MIDC Kurkumbh, Taluka Daund, District Pune, Maharashtra. The production started on December 16, 2024, on a campaign basis, marking a significant step in expanding the company’s presence in the antioxidant sector.
BHT is an important chemical compound used across various industries due to its ability to prevent oxidation, which can degrade the quality of products. As an antioxidant, BHT finds application in food, cosmetics, plastics, and pharmaceuticals. It helps extend the shelf life of products by protecting them from the harmful effects of oxidation. The commercial production of BHT positions Clean Fino-Chem to cater to growing market demand for high-quality antioxidants, strengthening the company’s foothold in the chemicals industry.
The company’s move to add BHT to its portfolio comes at a crucial time as demand for antioxidants continues to rise. Clean Fino-Chem already manufactures other important antioxidants like Butylated Hydroxy Anisole (BHA), Tertiary Butyl Hydroquinone (TBHQ), and Ascorbyl Palmitate (AP), which are widely used in the preservation of food and industrial products. The expansion into BHT production is expected to enhance its product offerings, further solidifying its position as a key player in the antioxidant supply chain.
What makes this expansion noteworthy is that Clean Fino-Chem will produce BHT at its existing facility in Kurkumbh, leveraging the existing infrastructure and fixed assets. This approach allows the company to maximize the potential of its current production base without significant additional capital expenditure, ensuring efficient scaling of production capacity.
BHT, known for its effectiveness in stabilizing fats and oils in various products, has applications in the food and beverage industry as a preservative, preventing oils from turning rancid. It also plays a key role in the manufacturing of synthetic rubber, cosmetics, and personal care products, where it helps maintain the quality and integrity of the final product. Furthermore, BHT is used in the production of animal feed and in stabilizing fuel and lubricants, making it an essential ingredient across several industrial sectors.
As Clean Fino-Chem embarks on this new phase of growth, the company is well-positioned to capitalize on the increasing global demand for antioxidants. The ability to produce BHT on campaign basis, while utilizing the existing infrastructure, ensures that Clean Fino-Chem can quickly scale production in response to market demands without the need for extensive new investments. This strategic move is expected to drive the company's growth and strengthen its competitive edge in the chemicals market.
