Clariant, a leading specialty chemicals company, has commenced construction of a second high-performance additives production line at its Cangzhou site in Hebei Province, China. This expansion is a joint venture with Beijing Tiangang Auxiliary Co., Ltd. and aims to meet the increasing demand for high-quality nylon products in the local market. A commencement ceremony on December 16 marked the beginning of this significant project.
The new production line will specialize in manufacturing Clariant’s unique multifunctional Nylostab S-EED additive. This additive enhances the quality and performance of nylon products, offering improved color stability, heat resistance, and composite compatibility. These enhancements translate to greater productivity during manufacturing processes, including spinning and injection molding.
This expansion builds upon the success of the first joint-venture production line established in 2021. Over the past three years, the existing facility has operated at full capacity, establishing a strong reputation for its high-quality products and expert operational capabilities. The success of this initial venture paved the way for the current expansion, demonstrating the strength of the partnership between Clariant and Beijing Tiangang.
“We are excited to take our partnership with Beijing Tiangang to the next level by breaking ground on a second production line in Cangzhou today,” said Zhigang Miao, Clariant’s Global Head of Polymer Solutions, Additives Polymer Solutions. “The continued investment from Clariant demonstrates our commitment to the Chinese market and reaffirms our strong belief in the prospects of local industries such as textiles and fibers, automotive, and packaging.”
The demand for high-end additives like Nylostab S-EED is being fueled by the rapid expansion of the upstream Chinese nylon industry. This growth is particularly evident in the textile and engineering plastics sectors, where nylon is a crucial material. Nylostab S-EED’s ability to improve process stability at high temperatures results in less filament breakage during spinning and reduces cycle times for injection molding, ultimately boosting productivity for manufacturers.
Mr. Gang Liu, Executive Director of Tiangang, expressed enthusiasm about the expanded partnership. “We feel privileged to deepen our partnership with Clariant further through the expansion of this already very successful production site. Since the beginning of our joint venture, we have enjoyed wonderful cooperation with Clariant and among our staff. We hope the new production line will offer local industries and our customers in China even more advanced additives solutions,” he said.
Sandra Schneider, Clariant’s Head of Operations & Supply Chain Additives, highlighted the strategic importance of the expansion. “The success of our first joint-venture production site in Cangzhou has undoubtedly paved the way for our new facility today. We’re confident that our new multifunctional additive Nylostab S-EED, produced at the new site, will have a good number of application areas across the core nylon value chain, which is seeing a surge in capacity expansion and demand, particularly from the textile and engineering plastics industry here in China,” she said.
