The Chemours Company, a global leader in chemistry, has launched Ti-Pure™ TS-6706, a new titanium dioxide (TiO2) pigment designed for high-performance coatings. This innovative product is a TMP- and TME-free version of Chemours' flagship universal grade, Ti-Pure™ R-706, offering a sustainable alternative without compromising quality or performance.
Chemours subjected Ti-Pure™ TS-6706 to rigorous testing to ensure it meets the stringent demands of the coatings industry. Evaluations were conducted in both architectural and industrial paint systems, encompassing both solvent and water-based formulations. The testing focused on critical parameters such as viscosity stability in liquid paint, color, gloss, tinting strength, hiding power, and the mechanical strength of the applied coating. Recognizing the critical role of TMP in the bulk flow of dry pigment, Chemours also conducted extensive testing of flow behavior at both laboratory and silo scales. This comprehensive testing regime validates the performance and reliability of Ti-Pure™ TS-6706.
Ti-Pure™ R-706 has long been the industry benchmark for its versatility and reliability in a wide range of coating applications where aesthetics is paramount. Recognizing the evolving regulatory landscape and increasing customer demand for more sustainable solutions, Chemours developed Ti-Pure TS-6706 as part of its Ti-Pure Sustainability Series (TS). This series focuses on innovations across four key pillars: circularity, climate impact, health and wellness, and resource efficiency.
Ti-Pure TS-6706 is engineered to be a direct replacement for Ti-Pure R-706, minimizing reformulation efforts for existing users. It retains the key performance characteristics that make R-706 so popular, including high gloss, exceptional durability, a desirable blue undertone, and excellent hiding power. Furthermore, it offers the same ease of dispersion and wet-in properties. Like its predecessor, Ti-Pure TS-6706 is suitable for a variety of formulations, including waterborne, solvent-borne, and powder coatings.
“As the industry’s trusted TiO2 partner, we are thrilled to offer a TMP- and TME-free version of our most popular pigment,” said Diane Picho, Interim President, Chemours Titanium Technologies. “The development of Ti-Pure™ TS-6706 is the latest example of our world-class research and development team listening to customers and creating an alternate formulation without sacrificing the quality, consistency, and reliability Chemours is known for.”
The removal of TMP and TME addresses growing regulatory concerns and aligns with the industry's shift towards more environmentally friendly materials. Chemours' proactive approach demonstrates its commitment to providing sustainable solutions that meet the evolving needs of its customers.
