The European Tyre Recycling Association (ETRA) recently organized their 30th annual three-day conference in Brussels, Belgium, where ChemAnalyst presented a research paper on end-of-life tyre (ELT) recycling trends. The conference, organized from March 25 to 27, was attended by scholars, professors and industry experts who presented research papers on various tyre recycling trends. The key motive of the presenters was to promote recycling of tyres through different techniques rather than it being dumped into scrapyard.
ChemAnalyst’s presentation touched on the topic with a solution-based approach. It highlighted the various types of recycling process – granulation, alternative fuel for cement kilns and pyrolysis. The focus of the presentation lied on the emergence of these processes as a strong business opportunity through ChemAnalyst’s pricing portal.
Through the other presentations, it became evident that the ever-shifting market poses a challenge for the stakeholders. ChemAnalyst’s portal emerged as a one stop solution to navigate this problem, as it captures real time prices and provides primary market insights. The presentation detailed how the platform can support better decision making within the tyre recycling industry.
The conference included presentations on a range of recycling innovations. PhD students explored tyre granulation and material separation; researchers introduced piezoelectric sensors made from waste tyres for potential road construction applications. Fibre separation research for road construction was also presented by a professor from Canada.
Pyrolysis was a hot topic during the conference and attendees were showcasing new pyrolysis technologies, which eventually would be converted into rCB (recycled Carbon Black).
Other speakers included commercial leaders, NGO and government representatives, researchers, material and product developers, and collaborators from support industries. The conference was designed to provide an open discussion of the current events in the tyre recycling industries. The speakers addressed critical challenges like setting the future agenda of tyre recycling, and market changes. They also explored opportunities in public works, materials for mobility, and upcycled rubber materials. Additionally, they highlighted innovative new materials, products, and applications still being developed for commercialization. The speakers also discussed EU funds and cooperation programs.
