India Energy Week, an internationally acclaimed sustainable energy conference, was organized from February 11 to 14 at Yashobhoomi, Delhi in India, where top players from the industry participated and showcased their expertise. The event, organized by the Indian Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, provided a global platform to explore opportunities and shape the future of energy.

The event showcased innovative technologies and groundbreaking solutions in the energy sector, giving the green energy initiative an edge. International industry goliaths like ExxonMobil, BASF, Schneider Electric, GE Power, Shell, TotalEnergies, Essar and BP were among the top visited coops. Top Indian refineries like ONGC, BPCL, IOCL, Reliance Industries, Nayara Energy, Vedanta, Oil India and GAIL also participated and staged their latest technologies.

ChemAnalyst visited the stalls and interacted with the who’s who of the energy sector. OPEC, one of the booths at the conference that ChemAnalyst visited, outlined their plans for the upcoming conferences which would cover an array of topics relating to the oil and gas industry.

One of the key highlights of the conference was the panel discussion where IOCL Research Officer Bineesh Vijayan spoke about pyrolysis oil derived from waste olefins. He explained how pyrolysis oil stands to be the future oil for all refining and fertilizer industries. The oil, produced from heating waste plastic at a higher temperature, currently runs many of IOCL’s refineries.

Vijayan was confident that utilizing plastic pyrolysis oil in FCC units in the refineries represents a logical step toward a more sustainable future. This innovation offers a sustainable, green, and circular solution, aligning with government initiatives for a greener and cleaner India.

Another remarkable waste-to-energy company Uttam Energy is leveraging household municipal waste to make renewable electricity as a part of the “Make in India” initiative.

An engineering and services company Rock Flow Dynamics showcased their “tNavigator Tool” which can effectively extract oil from mature and aged fields by 15-20% beyond primary and secondary recovery techniques. The algorithm of their 3D navigator tool can accurately predict oil reservoirs in the abandoned wells.

India Energy Week 2025 provided an invaluable platform to explore the latest innovations and engage with key participants in the energy sector. The event highlighted the strides being made toward sustainable energy, carbon footprint reduction, and technological advancements in oil and gas production. Such initiatives reflect India’s commitment to driving progress in renewable energy and supporting global environmental goals.
