France: Carbios is preparing for the worldwide commercialization of its PET biorecycling technology. Its demonstration unit in Clermont-Ferrand has been operating successfully, and the advanced engineering study for its first commercial plant, scheduled for commissioning in 2025, provides the engineering basis and operational guidelines for units to be established under license agreements.

It will provide all essential process documentation, including the Technical Information Summary for technology promotion and the Process Design Package and Process Book for project development, to its future licensees. This will enable them to efficiently engineer, procure, construct and operate their PET bio recycling plants under strict HSE standards and produce high-quality products.

Carbios has developed a revolutionary technology that enables true circularity for PET with alternative feedstock to petro-sourced monomers, which presents an opportunity for PET producers and chemical companies to become natural customers. This ground-breaking technology is also fully compatible with existing polymerization plants. Carbios intends to offer value to every feasible source of PET feedstock, comprising intricate plastic packaging and textile waste. The company plans to broaden this value augmentation to other contributors in the value chain, including waste management firms and public entities. With the increase in regulatory requirements and brand owners' ambitious sustainability goals for the inclusion of r-PET in their products and packaging, Carbios' technology provides a viable solution.

A prominent figure in the realm of biorecycling technology, is determined to extend its innovative solutions for the circularity of plastic and textile on a global scale. Environmentally conscious recycling has become an utmost necessity due to the worldwide prevalence of plastic usage. Carbios is ready to implement its biorecycling technology, thereby playing a significant role in the promotion of a sustainable circular economy for plastic.

Carbios has achieved a new industrial milestone in the deployment of its PET biorecycling technology. This achievement goes hand in hand with the brand owners' collaborations within Carbios' two consortiums, along with an exclusive long-term partnership with Novozymes. The partnership guarantees a consistent provision of enzymes to both the Carbios reference unit and upcoming licensed plants. With the engineering documentation now publicly available, the milestone was achieved on schedule.
