FACT’s Caprolactam unit is expected to restart by 15th December

The FACT plant which focuses more on producing nylon chips is expected to restart within next 45 days. Caprolactam plant of Fertilizers and Chemicals Travancore Ltd. (FACT) located in Udyogamandal, Kerala is not in operation for more than 6 months due to technical issues. Company’s Caprolactam plant has production capacity of 50 MTPA and is one of the two leading producers in India. Due to plant shutdown, Gujarat State Fertilizers & Chemicals Limited (GSFC) which has production capacity of 70 MTPA, becomes the leading manufacturer in satisfying the country’s Caprolactam demand .With decline in country’s overall domestic production ,the Caprolactam market is expected to be more of import driven with South Korea as the key player.
