Borealis has announced the launch of Borcycle™ M CWT120CL, an innovative recycled linear low-density polyethylene (rLLDPE) designed to enhance sustainability in flexible packaging. This new grade incorporates 85% post-consumer recyclate (PCR) combined with a 15% LLDPE booster, ensuring superior performance in high-end applications where environmental responsibility is a priority.

Borcycle™ M CWT120CL is the latest flexible packaging material developed using Borealis' proprietary Borcycle M mechanical recycling technology. This cutting-edge process enables the production of high-quality materials while maintaining energy efficiency. The creation of an rLLDPE grade featuring such a high proportion of PCR is a notable technical achievement, reinforcing Borealis' commitment to advancing circularity through its Evermind initiative.

Designed for blown film applications, Borcycle™ M CWT120CL is well-suited for a range of packaging types, including primary, secondary, and tertiary options. Key applications include stretch film, stretch hood, and protective films used in agricultural and industrial sectors. By lowering the carbon footprint of end products, this innovative material helps Borealis' customers achieve their sustainability goals while promoting environmentally responsible packaging solutions.

The development of Borcycle™ M CWT120CL was carried out in collaboration with Ecoplast, a member of the Borealis Group. Initiated in late 2022, the project required over two years of dedicated research and development to successfully integrate a high proportion of PCR content while ensuring the material maintained excellent performance characteristics. The result is a packaging solution with exceptional stretchability, low gel content, and a strong balance between toughness and stiffness.

These qualities make Borcycle™ M CWT120CL an ideal choice for packaging manufacturers striving to comply with the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) while retaining product performance.
