The price of Calcium Silicate observed a downward trend in February 2023, due to the weak demand from the construction industry in Europe.

The profit margins of construction material manufacturing companies have been severely impacted by the huge price hikes for energy and raw materials. The demand for the Calcium Silicate in Europe further dropped in February and the product got stockpiled in the market. The market for Calcium Silicate was sustained by stable foreign market inventory and falling freight costs. The burden on supplies has decreased as port congestions have eased.

According to the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), consumer prices would rise from January 2023 to February 2023, while the country's inflation rate will be 8.7%. The nation's consumer price index (CPI) had increased by 8.7% year over year (YoY) as of January 2023.

Since the commencement of the conflict in Ukraine, energy prices have risen significantly and impacted the inflation rate. The third federal relief package's provisions, which are reflected in the CPI, have been undertaken to restrict the rise in energy production costs. According to a press statement from Destatis, despite the alleviation measures, energy prices were 19.1% higher in February 2023 than in February 2022.

The EU as a whole continues to have serious concerns about energy pricing. High and unstable gas costs are a major factor in high electricity prices, which are also greatly influenced by rising geopolitical tensions and high global demand.

As per data, the Calcium Silicate cost hovered around USD 1135/MT on a CFR Hamburg basis during February 2023.

According to ChemAnalyst, the cost of Calcium Silicate is expected to low in the upcoming months due to bleak demand from the downstream construction industry in the European market. It is expected that the Calcium Silicate is likely to decline by 1.5% to 2 % in April 2023.
