Brunswick [USA]: Over the weekend, a blaze broke out at the Pinova chemical facility in Brunswick, GA, leading to the injury of two individuals. As a precautionary measure, residents within a mile radius were asked to evacuate their homes while others were advised to shelter in place for their safety.
Several emergency crews from various departments rushed to the scene to tackle the sudden incident. After a prompt response, the fire was successfully extinguished, and the safety orders were lifted shortly after 10 p.m. on Saturday night. Considering the potential environmental impact, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) deployed air monitors around the plant's perimeter to evaluate the air quality.
As per Brunswick Fire Department Assistant Chief Laurence Cargile, the reason for the fire was not yet determined, and an investigation is currently underway. Fortunately, the plant, known for producing rosin and Polyterpene resin, received only minimal damage from the blaze.
