BASF, a global leader in the chemical industry, has introduced Easiplas, a new brand of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) designed to meet the growing demand for advanced plastics in the Chinese market. This launch coincides with significant progress in the construction of BASF's HDPE plant at the Zhanjiang Verbund site.
Easiplas: A Name Rooted in Functionality and Integration
The name "Easiplas" reflects the product's core focus: combining "Ease of use" with "Ethylene" and "Plastics." By integrating backward into the ethylene value chain, BASF ensures the production of high-quality, user-friendly HDPE that is easy to process.
Backed by a team of industry experts and technical support, Easiplas emphasizes BASF's commitment to customer-centric innovation. The brand leverages cutting-edge technologies and renewable energy sources to deliver high-performance solutions with reduced carbon footprints. These solutions are tailored to industries including consumer goods, packaging, construction, and transportation.
Xu Yang, HDPE Business Management Director of Petrochemicals Asia Pacific at BASF, stated, "The introduction of Easiplas is a significant milestone for our HDPE business, officially launching our products in the market. The brand reinforces our dedication to offering competitive, innovative, and sustainable HDPE solutions that address our customers' evolving needs."
Construction Progress at Zhanjiang Verbund Site
Construction of the HDPE plant at the Zhanjiang Verbund site, which began in 2023, continues to make significant strides. Recent achievements include the successful lifting and installation of key components such as a reactor and a product purge bin. These milestones bring the plant closer to mechanical completion.
Hui Feng, Vice President of Basic Petrochemicals Operations for Petrochemicals Asia Pacific at BASF, commented, "The smooth transportation and installation of major equipment highlight the exceptional teamwork and dedication of all stakeholders. We remain on track to complete construction and start operations by the end of 2025."
Expanding HDPE Capacity
The Zhanjiang plant, with an annual production capacity of 500,000 metric tons, will produce polyethylene, a versatile thermoplastic polymer. Its applications span a wide range, from heavy-duty storage tanks and pipelines to flexible packaging and films.
With the launch of Easiplas and the development of its state-of-the-art plant, BASF solidifies its position as a leading provider of innovative, sustainable HDPE solutions tailored to diverse market demands.
