Asia’s Caustic Soda is likely to witness surplus supplies this December amid subdued product demand and persistent slowdown in global economy. Supplies are ample since late June, after India- the world’s largest PVC import market has removed anti-dumping duties on PVC cargoes of all countries except China and the US. Consequently, producers in Asia (except China) pushed chlor-alkali run rates to feed chlorine thus produced into the production of polyvinyl chloride (PVC). Moving into December, supply of Caustic Soda Lye is expected to remain healthy despite reduced production rates amid thinner chlor-alkali margins and higher power costs in winter.
