Asian Paints Foray into Hand Sanitizer Market to Further Propel the Demand for IPA in India

The requirement for hygiene products like sanitizers has become robust due to increase in the number of Coronavirus cases with every passing day. To combat against this devastating pandemic, new companies are entering into hand sanitizer market to assist the world in tough times. Taking it further, Asian Paints launched its Viprotek range of products on 1 May 2020 in hand sanitizer and surface vertical. The company undertook manufacturing at its former plant in Ankleshwar, after securing all necessary approvals from concerned authorities. With this commencement, the production for Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA), a key raw material for sanitizer production is anticipated to further boost in the coming months. Moreover, ramped-up production of sanitizers has already up trended the demand for feedstock IPA by 25 per cent since early March. To cater to this consistent surge in demand, Deepak Nitrite has recently commenced production of IPA at its Dahej plant, enhancing its previous production capacity by 10 times.
